The local ‘JUST COOK 4 Healthy Ageing’ class at St Paul’s Anglican Church in Milford welcomed Hon Maggie Barry, Minister for Seniors, at its final session on Friday, 16 June.
‘JUST COOK 4 Healthy Ageing’ is a free cooking and nutrition course organised by Selwyn, in association with the New Zealand Nutrition Foundation. It's designed for older people who may be living alone or caring for another person and who need help with improving their cooking skills, knowing what healthy food to buy, budgeting, etc.
The course in Milford is one of a series that we're holding in local communities as part of Selwyn’s charitable focus to help older people who are vulnerable or socially isolated.
As the NZ Nutrition Foundation developed the ‘JUST COOK 4 Healthy Ageing’ programme with funding provided by the Minister for Seniors from the Community Connects Fund, the Minister visited the final session to see the class in progress and learn of participants’ progress.
